Hardcore implementation! Cando’s new space photovoltaic technology has attracted attention from Forbes, and the delivery of its first batch of products has solidified the foundation for commercializing the technology.

Release time:

Jul 23,2026

In March this year, Cando unveiled its solar cloth technology for space-based photovoltaic research in Washington, D.C., and immediately received a featured report from the internationally renowned media outlet Forbes, as well as being selected by SME Business Review as “ 30 Innovative Brands of the Year 2026 “Currently, Sun布 has completed its first batch of shipments.”

Following the press conference, Dr. Huang Qiang engaged in discussions with the attendees on site.

Cando Solar Cloth is another milestone for Cando, following the Qinggang® series, and represents an extension of the company’s vision: “Wherever sunlight reaches, there is energy.” Cando Solar Cloth was developed specifically for space‑based applications, It is a lightweight, rollable solar panel that reduces weight by a factor of ten, offering exceptional thinness, flexibility, and rollability, with a durability exceeding 10,000 cycles. This technology can cut the cost of satellite solar arrays by approximately 90% and lower overall satellite costs by about 30%.

Sun布 material

Currently, mature space‑grade solar panels predominantly use gallium arsenide (GaAs) as their substrate and feature rigid, bulky Z‑shaped folding mechanisms that rely on complex mechanical structures and deployment systems. In contrast, Cando Solar Cloth employs silicon— a material that is far more cost‑effective and widely used on Earth—as its substrate. Its rollable design minimizes structural stress points, allowing it to be compactly stored and deployed with fewer moving parts and greater flexibility, thereby reducing the risk of malfunctions during deployment and simplifying logistics. Most importantly, the adoption of Cando Solar Cloth can significantly cut both the weight and volume of solar arrays, substantially lowering the overall cost of satellite launches. This breakthrough lays a critical technological foundation for the large‑scale commercialization of spaceflight, the widespread deployment of AI‑powered computing centers in orbit, and the realization of a decentralized energy future.

Following its launch, the Cando Solar Cloth quickly garnered significant attention from international media. The internationally renowned publication Forbes promptly published a feature article, hailing Sunbrella as a “disruptive innovation that brings solar energy into everyday life.” Subsequently, the brand’s strength was once again recognized by a leading authority, earning it a place on SME Business Review’s list of “30 Innovative Brands of the Year 2026.”

Forbes has published a special report on solar cloth technology.

At present, Sun布 has completed its first batch of shipments. It may become one of the world’s first rollable crystalline silicon solar power systems to be commercially deployed and delivered. The product not only serves 6G low-orbit communication satellites but is also backward‑compatible with a wide range of terrestrial, all‑scenario applications. By leveraging “space–ground collaboration,” it enables mass production, continuously reducing the cost of space‑based photovoltaic manufacturing.

From the ground to the vast expanse of low‑Earth‑orbit skies, Cando Solar Cloth will shatter the barriers of space‑based energy technology, making satellite constellations affordable and enabling clean energy to reach the cosmos—realizing true “energy abundance”!
